● 今年我们确定新增城镇就业的目标是1100万人以上，希望在实际执行中还可以更高一点。我们也很明确，就业还是要让市场来唱主角，也就是继续通过保市场主体来保就业。
Employment is of paramount importance. China created more than 11.8m urban jobs in 2020 amid COVID-19 and government economic planning will focus on jobs.
● 去年我们没有搞宽松政策，或者说所谓量化宽松，今年也就没有必要“急转弯”，还是要保持政策的连续性和可持续性，着力稳固经济，推动向好。
China did not apply quantitative easing policy last year and there is no need for a "sharp turn" this year; China will maintain policy continuity and sustainability and strive to stabilize the economy.

实事求是、公开透明、开放合作
● 中方本着实事求是、公开透明、开放合作的原则和态度，同世卫组织保持沟通，也支持世卫专家在华开展溯源研究工作。下一步我们还愿意继续同世卫组织一道，推动科学溯源工作。

● 要让科研人员有经费使用的自主权，不能把他们宝贵的精力花在填表评比等事务上，要让他们专心搞研究。
China will increase scientific research investment. Scientific researchers should have the autonomy of using funds.
● 我想对青年学生说几句话，不管你将来从事什么职业，有什么样的志向，一定要注意加强基础知识的学习。打牢基本功和培育创新能力是并行不悖的。我们把基础打牢了，才能触类旁通，行行都可以写出精彩。

● 过去几年中美关系的确遭遇了严重的困难，给两国和世界都带来了不利的影响。中美作为世界上最大的发展中国家和最大的发达国家，和则两利、斗则俱伤。
China-U.S. relations have encountered great difficulties yet overcome obstacles in past years. "Both stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation."

● 今年我们政策的制定和实施，还是要继续围着市场主体转，这就需要继续推进“放管服”改革，让市场主体不仅生存，而且活跃。去年我们说留得青山就赢得未来，今年说留得市场主体的青山常在，就能够生机盎然，使中国经济的活力和韧性充分体现。

Our policy toward Taiwan has been clear-cut – we remain committed to the One-China principle and the 1992 Consensus. The Chinese mainland always welcomes dialogues from different parties regarding cross-strait relations to achieve the unification of China.
民生领域
在发展中改善民生
● 今年政府总支出比去年略有增加，盘子不小，所以要更多地向量大面广的民生领域倾斜，特别是义务教育和基本医疗。
Total fiscal spending will increase this year and government spending will be allocated to areas focused on people's lives, especially education and healthcare, because putting people at the center is an important component of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
● 决不能因为家境、区域不同让孩子输在起跑线上。机会公平当中，教育公平是最大的公平。
No child should be put at a disadvantage because of his or her family background, or where he or she comes from. "Educational fairness is most important to ensure equal access to opportunities."
新发展格局
构建双循环
● 中国提出要立足新发展阶段、贯彻新发展理念、构建新发展格局，以国内大循环为主体，国际国内双循环相互促进，这既是要做大国内市场，也是要扩大开放。
China's "dual circulation" economic strategy emphasizes both China's domestic and foreign market, which means the country will continue to proactively open up to the world and make China an important destination for foreign investment.
